JOS Ablaze (2)

four days , 17,000 people displaced, 990 hospitalized and about 460 killed(75 people the government says!! but we know thats a lie) and a twenty hour curfew, relative peace has returned to the town of jos as the curefew has relaxed to 5pm- 10am .Although this is only a semblance of peace as as residents of Bukuru complained of the presence of "fake soldiers" who have been going from house-to-house killing and maiming Christians and other natives. This is sad and most of all dishearten to see the nation of Nigeria slowly descend into a state of anarchy as every person sleeps with one eye open and the looming clouds of unrest and apprehension encompass every square inch of land between Lagos and Sokoto .
i hope to God the Vice President is willing to take the bull by the horn and prevent the occurrence retaliatory riots in coming days..... our prayers are with the families of the departed .
let it not be said that the only thing that brings Nigeria and Nigerians together is Soccer........

super eagles

Sorry yesterday I was unable to post , this was because I travelled , ok let me start the story of my frustrations from there, hmm I was in the bus an sat by this lady  with  the weirdest shade of OFF GREEN cutex on her nails it made me nauseous throughout the trip. Yes, speaking of nausea, that would have been the feeling of any supporter of Nigeria who watched THE ''SUPER" EAGLES in the orange CAF nations cup. Where the wings of the super eagles Nigeria were clipped by the pharaohs of Egypt, in a devastating 3-1 loss after Nigeria played excitingly in the first 20mins (once again the eagles have done what they do best. Break the heart of Nigerians –they’ve broken mine so many time I’m not sure how much my poor heart can take- l need love, lol )

WHERE IS OUR SERVANT LEADER?

I’m even tired of this whole yaradua thing! Like Tiger Woods, he is ‘missing’ the only difference is that he is the president of the Federal republic of Nigeria AKA Giant of Africa. Turai yaradua The government should know that misinformation or the complete lack of information can only end in chaos. So the people of Nigeria have only one question on their minds, “WHERE IS OUR SERVANT LEADER?” There was a report in the news dailies that the servant suffered brain damage, and some enthusiast journalists have said he died last year while the hospital where the servant is supposed to be says he left since the 23rd of December 2010. So today, the senate is debating a motion today that looks into the 51 day absence of the president. also happening today is the city of Abuja,  is a march by many important Nigerians(ojukwu,Soyinka, bakare and more) demanding from the government, information on the state of health(or the absence off) of our president .
I would like to know your thoughts on this situation please share a comment with us ....am out

GoodLuck's Xmas Gift

2009  a year when the credit crunch is ravaging the world economy, Nigerian banks tending towards bankruptcy,More than half of the 150 million Nigerians living at $1 (dollar) per day , fuel scarcity,  the crash of the Nigerian stock market value (i’m very sure of this part because my portfolio is about 20 percent of its former value),  kidnapping on the rise  and guess what the Vice President GoodLuck  got for Christmas ? , “everyly” i go tell una!

The Federal Executive Council in ALL its ‘WISDOM’ on Wednesday(23rd dec) decided among projects of national priority to build a befitting accommodation for VP.GoodLuck  at the price of .....wait for it .
BOOM  7.1BILLION Naira (billion is the one with nine zeros ).
I was incensed when i saw this figure ! and it would be completed in just 20months !
If one  lives in a 7.1Billion Naira house while on earth ,omo there’s no need to go to heaven again , abi what do you think? What insensitivity?
I dare say it is the mark of a bad leadership and even worse a corrupt  government.
At a time of financial and National distress Oga GoodLuck gets the most expensive gift for Xmas (if you got one more expensive pls email me) .
To let you understand the magnitude of this project I converted it to dollars and  got the amount of $47,579,278 and with this price tag i went looking for property within  the range of this outrageous sum of cash.
Here are a couple of properties i found with their price tags

$7.9million

$28million

$13.9 million

$45 million

  • Private golf course (and indoor virtual golf)
  • 2-lane bowling alley
  • Full arcade and restaurant
  • Home theatre (seating at least 25) replicated after The Fox Theater
  • Model train room
  • Horse stables and riding ring
  • Carriage house
  •  82 rooms;
  •  10 bathrooms;
  • 9 half bathrooms
  • 12-car garage
  • 2 elevators
  • 28 foot ceilings
  • 47,000 square feet
  • 72 fenced and gated acres

$...???...
And how do they compare with the squalor that is Nigeria?
(the reality of the average citizen ?)

$?????????

$????????

$??????(priceless huh?)

I’m sure you can now see the chasm that exists between the  leadership and its citizenry
How in Gods name can we as a nation justify building ‘Disney Land’ for our VP at a time like this  ?

YET ANOTHER NIGERIAN IDOT ! !

Nigerian Terrorist was arrested as he was trying to blow up the Northwest flight 253 Detroit plane. The Nigerian terrorist wanted to blow up the flight just like 9/11 attacks. He was overpowered by other passengers of the flight when he was trying to ignite the explosive.
There were 270 passengers in the plan. If the terrorist got success in his mission then it will cause the death of 270 passengers. He was having connections with al Qaida. He was arrested and authorities has launched an investigation that how he brought explosive material with him in the plan.
The passenger of Northwestern Flight No 253 survived miraculously and no injury recorded. The terrorist received several burns on his hand and was taken to the hospital.
The flight was coming from Amsterdam. After the man was over powered the Northwest Airlines Flight 253 landed safely in Detroit. The man had burned his hand due to fire while he was trying to ignite the device.
The authorities said they had already raised the terrorist alert level. President Barack Obama was on the family holidays and he was informed about the incident soon after it happened. President has high level conferences after the incident and ordered to increase the security level. The attack was totally the security lapse and the major question is how the Nigerian terrorist brings the explosive material with him in the flight. After the incident the security of all the airports have tighten.

OBJ please forgive us....

Obj(obasanjo) is Many things....stubborn, determined, even myopic (but I never thought Nigeria would miss him). Obj came up with the idea of prolonging his stay in office(third term)and it got shot down.
So he said to himself I would punish this people(we Nigerians). I will give them yara'dua!!
Running a country of about 150million very stubborn people is no mean task even for the virile and determined not to talk of someone at the age of 58 with Churg Strauss Syndrome + Asthma + pericarditis   = Wahalla
For the past 21 days ,Oga yaradua has not been able to honour 'us' with his presence in the country due to his extended hiatus in Saudi Arabia.
formerly , the average Nigeria's complain was that the country was moving too slowly but now, we are at a complete stand still -Choking  in the stench of 'our' fumes.
Oga Yara’dua (or rather President Turai) please beg OBJ to forgive 'us' of our sins and allow Nigeria to have another chance at greatness . . . don’t run for office in 2010(better still quit now).
This is my humble prayer.

FIRST POST

My  name is Tai-Osagbemi Boma ,
welcome to the maiden post of my blog

WAR AGAINST NEPA/PHCN (wotever!)

Nija will always be home....
Home is where the heart is  they say, but i ask , na heart we go chop ?
The conditions in country are way beyond unbearable, stifling the creativity  and innovativeness of the average individual , those who dare climb against this trend find it an arduous up ‘mountain’ struggle.  But there is hope.
Somewhere  at the top of  ‘our’ seven point agenda is the issue of power generation -and 6000MW) but that's a story for another day .
You see, i live in one of the GRA-ish areas of  the Kaduna metropolis and as at now (the time of typing this)  there is no PHCN/NEPA  and yes, i’m going to tell you why .
You see, somehow towards the end of the year(every year), PHCN shows up saying the community has to contribute the sum of  N150,000  with the clam that the  “oil” in the transformer  has been stolen.
So this year the same sharp guys came in their blue overalls and whiteish-brownish  pickup truck.
well this everyone decided to use the money to fuel their generators  .
We just  ‘celebrated ’ our THREE MONTHS of ‘‘lightlessness’’  HURRAY !!

MOVIES

IRON MAN 2 is due for release  on the 7th may of  2010...omo i saw the trailer and a couple of scenes on youtube. With the impressive star studded cast (Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, and Don Cheadle as Rhodey) . i can’t wait  for May

So.... i was watching the , third season of Tim Kring’s HEROES out of sheer boredom(addicts please do not send me death threats or hate mail ). Then the Indian dude in an ‘outro’ to one of the episodes said something that made me smile. It was a quote made popular by the
 Nigerian born literary king,
 Chinua Achebe’s first book,
 Things Fall Apart

'Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world'

Conversely , i saw  the pilot episode of BURN NOTICE which is sort of  a cross between  ‘dumb and dumber’  and  James bond .  As the lead character  said  ‘Nigeria is the gun running capital of Africa’  with all the muscles in my face contracting , i ask myself, does this  dude even know what a  Somalia is ? ’

SPORTS

Oga messi going  to be player of the year , FC Barcelona is toping the league again.... the world is in order again !
And the now to the most watched single sports event on the soccer calender  ...
WOZZA WOZZA
Here are a couple of pictures of the sparkling new stadia in which the stars of the soccer world would strut their stuff

Next  post we’ll talk about 9ja's chances of qualifying from our group
